This argument illustrates and analyses the process by which the Chinese economic model has changed from one kind of socialist system based on a model of planned economy, to a capitalist system tied to free market economy. My dissertation starts introducing the economic, political and social context in which China was before the implementation of the modernization plan. Afterwards I present the four modernizations’ reform, which has been carried out by Deng Xiaoping in 1978, the open-door policy and the establishment of SEZ (Special Economic Zones). Furthermore I’m illustrating China’s entrance into the World Trade Organization (WTO). Finally I will analyse the political and social scenario closely related to what these reforms have entailed. I will conclude the analysis by comparing the fast and effective China's economic rise to its social growth’s peculiar

Abstract
