Abstract This thesis focuses on the translation of a chapter of the book “Capire l’arte contemporanea La guida più imitata all’arte del nostro tempo” by Vettese Angela, published in 2006. Angela Vettese is one of the best known art critics, especially of contemporary art, and directs the master's course in the visual arts at IUAV University of Venice. She has collaborated in several important publications in the art sector, published essays in major contemporary works, taught in several universities, and curated exhibitions of contemporary artists. The author's extensive experience justifies the decision to use her book for this translation.  The intervention of the critic is necessary because contemporary art is certainly still difficult for most people, especially in the East. The purpose of the thesis is to present Western modern art to a Chinese audience through an in-depth analysis of Vettese's criticism. Using her criticism is necessary because understanding contemporary art, especially Western modern art, is a challenge for most people, especially people in the Far East. In recent years, Chinese tourists visiting Europe, especially Italy, have shown increased interest in contemporary art. The topic of the thesis is a response to that interest. The thesis is divided into the following parts: - Presentation of the book and biography of the author. - Analysis and contextualization of the information content of the book, analyzes the art into the past. - The history of translation in China and related theories. - Translation of the chapter in Vettese’s book on "Neo-Dadaist experiences" - Macro-strategy translatology and micro-strategy of translastion that to be adopted for deal with the translation work considering the dominant and model reader previously identified.
