This dissertation takes the example of the Colosseum, an Italian World Cultural Heritage Site: by translating three professional academic articles on, Italy's protection of Cultural Heritage during the Second World War, Italy's effective measures for the protection of World Cultural Heritage in the ‘‘Blue Helmets for Culture’’ of the United Nations, and Italy's Cultural Heritage Protection initiatives for the ancient Roman Colosseum, this thesis briefly analyzes Italy's outstanding contributions and unremitting efforts in the field of World Cultural Heritage Protection within the framework of UNESCO. This thesis is divided into three Chapters. The First Chapter focuses on the historical background of the establishment of UNESCO, the development of UNESCO, the birth and functions of the UNESCO's World Heritage Committee, as well as on the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, namely: the 1954 Hague Convention and the 1972 Paris Convention. In addition, it also focuses on emphasizing and analyzing Italy's outstanding contributions and commendable initiatives in the field of protection, restoration, development and utilization of Cultural Heritage, such as: the enactment of Article 9 of the Italian Constitution, the promulgation of the Italian Law on Cultural Heritage and Landscape, the establishment of the Italian Carabinieri Command for the Cultural Heritage Protection, the creation of the Italian Task Force of the ‘‘Blue Helmets for Culture’’ of the United Nations, as well as the use of digitalization and scientific technologies, such as: 3D Technology, Nanotechnology and Artificial Intelligence, for the preservation of Cultural Heritage, as well as the rational development and utilization of Cultural Resources. The Second Chapter is mainly dedicated to the translation of three professional, academic and specialized documents from Italian into Chinese. The First Article outlines and summarizes a number of Italian Cultural Heritage Protection initiatives, such as the Shelter Plan and the Supervisory Role of the Italian authorities, during the particular historical period of the Second World War. The Second Article mainly analyzes how, in the international context of deliberate and systematic destructions of Cultural Heritage, Italy has taken a series of practical and effective initiatives to protect the World Cultural Heritage, such as the establishment of the ‘‘Blue Helmets for Culture’’ of the United Nations, and the foundation of the Italian Task Force Unite4Heritage. The Third Article mainly expounds the protection, development, and use of the Cultural Heritage of the Colosseum and its surrounding areas. The Third Chapter includes the translator's translation comments on the contents of the three academic documents translated by the translator herself, involving a comprehensive analysis of the translations of the original texts, as well as a detailed discussion of the important factors that have an impact on the translation process from the perspective of translatology. Namely that, through the analysis of text type, dominant factors and reader types to determine which macro-translation strategy and micro-translation strategy should be adopted by the translator. Furthermore, the translator also analyzes the difficulties encountered in the process of translating from Italian to Chinese and the corresponding solutions taken. Finally, the translator reviews and summarizes the main ideas and contents of this thesis, and attaches a bibliography of all the references booklists, a list of all the reference website and a specialized Chinese-Italian glossary of three academic articles above. The specialized lexical items are divided according to different topics and different semantic fields.
