IoT in a furniture manufacturing company; Lago innovation process case study

Innovation is becoming one of the most important aspects that companies have to manage in order to create added value for consumers and survive in the market. Lago S.p.A., an Italian manufacturing company in the furniture industry, is becoming an innovation leader in its sector. The aim of the thesis is understanding the main tools and processes used by Lago S.p.A. in order to innovate, focusing mainly on the Talking Furniture Project, an Internet of Thing (IoT) application. The structure of the thesis is divided into three chapters: in the first one, other companies’ innovation processes are reviewed, and an overview on the concept of internet of things and their technologies is given. The second chapter is about Lago, its main activities and how it innovates in the products but also in the digital aspect. Finally, the third chapter identifies the steps that have been executed in order to create Talking Furniture, a project that allows an integration between product innovation, IoT and digital marketing innovation
